What Inspired You?

Horror has always been one of my favorite genres since I was a young child. My inspiration for horror movies usually came from my father due to our endless love for the specific genre, we would always watch horror movies together while critiquing the characters and actors. However, a horror movie opening that really inspired me to continue watching horror movies was the infamous "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". The opening of this movie began with a short narrative writing on the screen telling the viewers about the background news of the five teens who ventured out into unknown territories and faced the consequences through punishments, torture, and various running scenes based on adrenaline. The narrative writing scene then transitioned over into clips of mutilated dead corpses while they would slowly zoom into their face. What interested me into watching the rest of the film was the narrative writing giving me a small background story of the lives of these five young adults. Another horror movie which pulled me in was "Carrie", the opening of this movie began with the role character Carrie in swimming class separated from everyone else while she was in her own corner in the pool. Everyone seems to always bully her and play tricks on her. This opening drawled me in because I knew that something so severe would happen to Carrie later on in the movie that would cause her from being the shy antisocial girl to a vengeful teenager after her tormentors. That idea drawled me in so much that I had to watch the full movie to understand how she should accomplish that task. In conclusion, horror has always and will continue to be one of my favorite genres due to the camera shots, background noises, jump scares, and etc. This is what brings together a horror movie into one and inspired me to make my movie opening based on horror.
