Week 2- Filming

Image
Our group went out to the courtyard to shoot shots that could possibly establish the emptiness of the school. Shots that seem empty covey the idea of loneliness, which is exactly what the main character feels in the film opening. The courtyards scenery, background, and lightning helped put this shot together and it’s setting. On this morning, it was very foggy, so a creepy feel was incorporated into the video. Fog is usually used as an indicator of something bad or malevolent tending to happen soon, leaving the audience on the edge of their seat.

Week 5 - Filming

Image
This was one of our first shots, we produced an establishing scene for the opening of our film right when she’s about to wake up for school. We shot this view and scene of the sun rising in the morning time in the schools nation square.

Week 4- Preparing to Film

Actors: Chynney Dorvil, Janney Vera, Arianna Verdecia, Berluche Prunier. Locations: These three locations will include the school hallways, a courtyard, and most likely a bedroom. Props: A phone for the morning rush which will be in the second scene, the school, and an empty room. Costumes: There will mainly be bright colors to create a neat environment in the beginning which will then transfer to shadowy outfit near the end. The main character will tend to have some special effects makeup due to the predicaments around her in the film. The other characters will be wearing normal outfits but a bit darker shades so that the audience can focus on the main character.  Dates and Times: The first scene will be shot at around 6-7 when the sun is rising. The second will be at any time, which will show the main character getting ready. The third and fourth scenes should be midday, mostly at 11am-3pm. Both the fifth and sixth scene will take place later in the day when the ...

Week 3- Storyboarding

Image
In this storyboard I came up with different camera angle ideas. In the second box the main character has a medium shot which shows her bedroom just a bit while she wakes up. Moving onto the third box, which shows a wide shot of the the whole whole way and the main character being surrounded by loud people. Additionally, the fourth box shows a medium shot of only her and her friend having a conversation which is also a part of dialogue. Next in the fifth box, is an establishing shot of the scenery around the day and the sun finally setting. Last but not least in the sixth box, shows a close up shot/ high shot of MC appearing to be crying in school which also gives a sense of melancholy.

What Inspired You?

Horror has always been one of my favorite genres since I was a young child. My inspiration for horror movies usually came from my father due to our endless love for the specific genre, we would always watch horror movies together while critiquing the characters and actors. However, a horror movie opening that really inspired me to continue watching horror movies was the infamous "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". The opening of this movie began with a short narrative writing on the screen telling the viewers about the background news of the five teens who ventured out into unknown territories and faced the consequences through punishments, torture, and various running scenes based on adrenaline. The narrative writing scene then transitioned over into clips of mutilated dead corpses while they would slowly zoom into their face. What interested me into watching the rest of the film was the narrative writing giving me a small background story of the lives of these five young a...
