Practice Essay

Practice Essay “Agent Carter” Elements are very important to create a film. In the provided clip, many elements were used among the short 5 minute video. To begin with, there are 5 master shot films. These include Simultaneity, Parallelism, Contrast, Symbolism, and Leit Motiff. In the beginning of the film it starts off with with Steve plummeting down from the sky while Peggy watches in horror. Moving back and forward from Peggy praying Steve lands safely, to Steve telling her not to worry because he has to do what he has to do for the greater good, this would be an example of Simultaneity. Simultaneity is editing where the camera cuts from one action to another to show relation between the two. Steve, knowing his landing could possibly land in death, hangs a picture of Peggy in front of him while he plummets down. Moving on in the clip, Peggy is at the agency and opens up her drawer to find a picture of Steve. This shows shows parallelism and symbolism at the same time. Paral...

Mise En Scene- Supernatural

Image
I choose to mise-en-scene the CW show known as, "Supernatural". I've been watching this show for about 2 years due to them having 15 seasons of creepiness, amusement, thriller, and a good plot in all of their episodes. Although, the setting, lighting, acting, and staging really pulls the show all together.       In season 11 Ep.23, the characters dean and same are attempting to stop Amara(Gods sister) from destroying the universe. Towards the end of the scene Dean is in the middle of the shot with dark clouds and a dark sky above him giving the viewers a shallow space setting.  This creates suspense among the viewers keeping them on the edge of their seat waiting for something tragic to happen. While also creating a sense of concern for the character Dean if he'll make it out alive or dead.      Soon after the setting begins to have lightness around Dean and Amara, dean is trying to convince amara to spare the universe while ...

5 Master Edits w/ Sound

Week 8 & 9 Assignment https://youtu.be/B1JFmC4h4Uk For the first sound I used the song "Stressed Out" by twenty-one pilots. The lyrics and sounds from the clip was suppose to show how stressed out the student is from studying.  In the second clip I used sad music to depict how much work these students need to complete on their laptops. In the third clip I then used the jeopardy theme song music to represent how long my dad was waiting for the light to turn green. In the fourth clip I used a humorous type of sound that would show the comedy going on. In the last clip I then played upbeat loud dancing music and then transitioned to calm music and then went back into the upbeat music.

5 Master Edits

https://youtu.be/_iv28x1Ut9w Contrast: For the contrast video I showed 2 of my friends. One who appears carefree and not worried about assignments at the moment and the other friend who is stressing and trying to finish all of their work because school is important to them. This showed 2 different shots of 2 different personalities. Parallelism: Our parallelism shot begins with a shot of a recorded assignment on a MacBook, then the next shot shows the "same" MacBook with the same assignment on the screen. The last shot then shows both of the MacBook's together with the same assignment on the screen. This made the audience believe that the same MacBook was being shown 2 times when in reality it was 2 separate laptops. Simultaneity: For Simultaneity I showed my dad at the steering wheel just looking afar while talking on the phone, the next shot showed a video of a red light. This scene showed that the reason he was looking afar was that he was waiting fo...

Week 3&4 Assignment

US The movie "US" is a psychological thriller film. Various shots from the film brought upon a variety of emotions onto the audience and myself too. There was a specific scene however that I realized was using a lot of point of view shots which made me feel really creeped out as if I was in the same situation as them. The point of view shot gave me a "look into their eyes" type of atmosphere, it allowed the audience to feel on edge, watching through their eyes about what will happen next. Another shot that was common in the movie was the close up shots which allowed me to see the emotion portrayed the actors/actresses faces to see what they are really feeling at the moment. There was a mixture of different camera shots and angles, but the most that stuck out to me were the close up and point of view shots. This really brought out the fear and emotions out of me. The close up shot made us feel the anxiety and anticipation when the camera zoomed onto her face...

Comment on Students Posts

Woody's Blog Commentary The tilt shot made me feel as though anticipated as if something was going to pop up or reveal themselves once we got to the top. The Establishing Shot in woody's blog really stood out to me because I was able to know about the location and setting of the area. This setting brought a lot of peace and tranquility by the quietness and slow ripples of the lake in the background. The Dolly Shot seemed more of a point of view shot. It seemed as if I were watching walking through their eyes. The Choker shot brought more attention to the character forcing us to look more at him and less of the surroundings. The Full Shot allowed us to view the character from top to bottom and seeing all of their features. Whether that's clothing items or accessories on them. The Pan Shot gave me a different angle to view the setting and surroundings with. It gave me a full wide length of the background and what's in it. The Cameo Shot made th...

Assignment Week 2

This was a close up shot which focused on me opening the car door. This was an establishing shot which set the location and mood of the area. This was an extreme close up shot which showed the magnified details of my eye. This was an eye level shot of  my mother which was a bit difficult to get to her height. This is a close shot of my mother reading a "book" which was just my planner. This was a reaction shot of my brother being surprised by something off camera. This was a point of view shot of my brother being "chased" by a murder (:

Chynney's AICE Media Blog

AICE Media Studies The reasoning behind why I took the course AICE Media Studies was to learn more about the modern-day media and what's going on behind a phone screen or camera screen.  What I hope to get out of this course is more accurate knowledge on the media and what I need to improve on.
